Relationship between Direct-Pontentiometric and Flame Photometric Measurement of Sodium and Potassium

Abstract
The relationship between direct-potentiometric (Nova-1) and flame photometric (FLM,) measurements of Na & K was evaluated in samples of human sera and urine.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. When measuring Na & K, two instruments gave linear responses and good precision. But especially in the blood mode, the precision of Nova-1 was better than FLM,.
2. With the instuments in the blood mode the correlation coefficient for Na was 0.869 and for K, 0.977. In the urine mode, correlation coefficient for Na was 0.994 and for K, 0.990.
3. With the lipemic serum (triglyceride:>200mg/dl) the correlation coefficient of Na & K in the two insrtuments was 0.749 and 0.878, respectively.
